Old scientific name: Trichocereus bridgesii.

Folk names:

= Bolivian Torch (English vernacular name).

= Achuma Cactus (vernacular name in Bolivia).

INTRODUCTION

This particular form of the Bolivian Torch has six vertical ribs !

Ribs on the Bolivian Torch Cactus

Normally, a Bolivian Torch (= Echinopsis lageniformis) has 5 vertical ribs.

But sometimes a Bolivian Torch makes six (6) ribs.

By comparison, a San Pedro Cactus (Echinopsis pachanoi) usually has about 5 to 8 (or 9) ribs.

The more ribs a Bolivian Torch Cactus has, the larger the surface area on the outside.

And the more tissue this Mescaline Cactus possesses that contains Mescalline.

Because the highest content of Mescaline is always on the green exterior of a Mescaline Cactus.

GROWTH OF THE BOLIVIAN TORCH

Add or subtract an extra rib?

The 6-ribbed Echinopsis lageniformis Cactus may later add an extra rib.

So that this Mescaline Cactus then has 7 ribs at the top, a 6 ribs at the bottom.

Or lose a rib, so that the Cactus then has 5 ribs at the top, one at the bottom 6 ribs.

In our nursery, this rarely happens.

Therefore, we have Bolivian Torch Cacti with six ribs for sale up to about 25 to 30 cm in length.

Growth rate

Echinopsis lageniformis is the fastest growing Mescaline Cactus species !

This particular form of Echinopsis lageniformis grows as fast as the normal five-ribbed Echinopsis lageniformis.

MESCALINE IN THE 6-RIBBED BOLIVIAN TORCH CACTUS

1. Mescaline content of the Bolivian Torch with six ribs

The Mescaline content of the Echinopsis lageniformis with six ribs and that with five ribs is about the same.

So per gram of tissue:

-- on the inside (white colour), the 4-ribbed form and the 5-ribbed form contain the same amount of Mescaline.

-- on the outside (green colour), both Cacti contain about the same amount of Mescaline.

Content = the relative proportion of a substance in the whole.

= percentage, ratio, relative amount.

1. Mescaline amount of the Bolivian Torch with six ribs

But the amount of Mescaline is probably higher with this six-ribbed form !

Because this six-ribbed shape has more surface area on the outside, where most Mescaline is found.

So per centimetre of length, this six-ribbed form probably has more Mescaline !

According to studies and bioassays, the Mescaline concentration is about the same as in the San Pedro Cactus.

Same names for the Bolivian Torch and the San Pedro

Indigenous Indians in Bolivia call the Bolivian Torch (Achuma Cactus) and the San Pedro both:

1. Achuma.

2. Huachuma.

3. San Pedro.

Apparently, they do not differentiate between the two botanically distinct Cactus species.

Probably because the action of both Cacti is the same.

The dimensions given are minimum dimensions.

So a cutting of 7+ cm means a length of at least 7 cm.

CUTTING OR ROOTED CACTUS

Our Mescaline Cacti (Peyote Cactus, San Pedro Cactus, Peruvian Torch Cactus) are offered as :

To pot up yourself, or to eat ..... !

A cutting makes roots after a few weeks, after which the rooted Mescaline Cactus continues to grow.

Cuttings of Trichocereus Cactus species

-- are up to about 15 cm in length much thicker, heavier and stronger than sown Mescaline Cacti (seedlings),

-- possess a thicker outer tissue layer (Chlorenchyme layer), in which the Mescaline content is highest.

2. PLANT / PLANT IN POT = Well-rooted Mescaline Cacti in a pot

Grow immediately at home!

Buying a rooted Mescaline Cactus saves:

repotting, rooting, deformation due to a growth stop, and possible loss due to infections and rotting.

DISADVANTAGES OF SOWN MESCALINE CACTI

1. Sown Mescaline Cacti often grow up in protected conditions for the first few years.

They are often shielded from sun, usually stand warm, are protected with pesticides.

These so-called ‘greenhouse plants’ are thinner, waterier, weaker, have thinner and lighter spines.

These ‘greenhouse plants’ are therefore more sensitive to less optimal conditions.

2. Young seedlings of Mescaline Cacti often do not resemble older plants of the same species.

Young seedlings of different species of Mescaline Cacti often resemble each other in the first few years.

So in both cases, it is not clear which species of Mescaline Cactus the seedling belongs to.

This is why we supply all Trichocereus species as thick strong cuttings and as well-rooted plants in a pot.

Zelfde namen voor de Bolivian Torch en de San Pedro

Inheemse Indianen in Bolivia noemen de Bolivian Torch (Achuma Cactus) en de San Pedro beide:

1. Achuma.

2. Huachuma.

3. San Pedro.

Kennelijk maken ze geen verschil tussen beide botanische duidelijk verschillende Cactus-soorten.

Waarschijnlijk omdat de werking van beide Cactussen hetzelfde is.

AFMETINGEN

De vermelde afmetingen zijn minimum-afmetingen.

Een stek van 7+ cm betekent dus een lengte van minstens 7 cm.

AFKORTINGEN

Een bewortelde Mescaline Cactus kopen scheelt:

NADELEN VAN GEZAAIDE MESCALINE CACTUSSEN

1. Gezaaide Mescaline Cactussen groeien de eerste jaren vaak op onder beschermde omstandigheden.

Ze worden vaak afgeschermd tegen zon, staan meestal warm, worden beschermd met bestrijdingsmiddelen.

Deze zogenaamde "kasplantjes" zijn dunner, wateriger, minder sterk, hebben dunnere en lichtere doorns.

Deze "kasplantjes" zijn daarom gevoeliger voor minder optimale omstandigheden.

Just wanted to let you know that I prepared about 90cm and this one was insanely strong.

I normally charge 40cm per person,

we about 2 people finished 55cm and that was enough.

I was glad I felt 2 hours first before we took the second half.

It would also have been difficult for me to guide if we had taken it all.

My traveller was a first timer and had his hands full, couldn't have handled more.

This is how I want people to feel what the cactus does.

I have been to several traditional ceremonies but never was the cactus so strong.

Then the real quality of the cactus doesn't come up but this cactus, wow.
