SOIL FOR SALE
Alternative names: earth, potting soil, substrate.

 1. SOIL FOR SALE
Pumice stone (bims) for sale.

Cactus soil.
Flugsand for sale.
Lavameal for sale.

Peyote soil for sale.
Peat mix for sale.

2. SOIL BASED ON PEAT
Special soil mixtures based on natural peat, which consists of fibres from decayed plant remains.
Between the peat fibres there is a lot of air, which is important for oxygenation of plant roots.

Peat can be processed (sieved, reduced) to make different fractions.
Peat can be supplemented with lime, lava meal, Perlite and nutrients to make a good soil mix
The combination of the added ingredients determines which plants the soil is suitable for.

 3. SOIL AND NUTRITION (FERTILISERS)
Every soil contains a limited amount of nutrients.
These nutrients will be absorbed by the plant.
As a result, the soil will contain too few nutrients after a while.

That is why you will have to add minerals and trace elements yourself.
You can use fertiliser to supplement minerals and trace elements in a targeted manner.

 See: Iron chelate

4. PEAT AS A BASIS FOR SOIL MIXES
Natural peat is very suitable as a basis for many types of growing soil, seedling soil and potting soil.
Properties of peat
1. Light weight.
2. Easy to process.
3. Retains water and nutrients well.
Cacti and succulents' roots have enough time to absorb water and nutrients.
4. Buffers excess nutrients (fertilisers) and acid.
As a result, plant roots suffer less damage from over-fertilisation .
5. Contains a lot of air and oxygen.
Important for oxygenation of the roots of cacti and other plants.
6. Good compressibility, so thickening roots are not hindered.
7. Soft in structure, so plant roots are not damaged.
8. Has an open structure, allowing plant roots to grow easily into the openings.
9. Contains hardly any nutrients
Useful because you know exactly how many nutrients there are in peat - none.
So you know exactly which fertilisers you need to fertilise, namely everything!
10. Is virtually sterile.
So it contains no harmful living animal and plant organisms such as bacteria, viruses and moulds.
11. Reacts acid (pH = 3)
Useful because most plants want slightly acidic soil (acidity of pH 5 - 7).
Pure peat with pH=3 is not suitable as growing soil, but peat can be made less acidic with a little lime.

5. COMPOSITION OF OUR SOIL MIXTURES
Our soil mixtures contain the following raw materials:
1. Finely sieved high-quality peat of horticultural quality.
Homogeneous fine mixture without lumps, lumps or twigs.
Finely sieved to leave a certain size of peat fibres.
2. Supplemented with a Total Fertiliser with low Nitrogen content for a perfect amount of nutrients.
3. Supplemented with a little lime for the right acidity (pH) .
4. Supplemented with lava meal (lava powder) for additional strengthening natural minerals (not with the pure peat mixture).
5. Supplemented with 20% Perlite to make the soil more permeable (with the Cactus soil and Peyote Cactus mix).
The Perlite is supplied loose, so you can determine the quantity yourself.
The more Perlite in the soil, the faster the soil dries out.

6. TYPES OF SOIL MIXTURES
We sell special soil mixtures for:
1. Peyote Cacti.
2. Trichocereus Cacti (San Pedro Cactus, Bald San Pedro Cactus, Peruvian Torch Cactus, Achuma Cactus).
3. Common Cacti and other Succulents (Succulents).
4. Indoor plants, garden plants, balcony plants, tub plants.
5. Sowing seeds of all plant species.
In our fine sowing soil the tender roots of sown Cacti, succulents and houseplants can root well.
6. taking cuttings of all plants.
In our fine soil the new roots of pricked cacti, succulents and houseplants can root well.
Use for all plants (Cacti, succulents, houseplants, tub plants) as a base soil or as an additive.

Available per 5 , 10 , 20, and 50 Litres (prices of larger quantities on request).

7. SOIL ADDITIVES
Adding lava meal
With an additional addition of Lava meal, any soil can be enriched with minerals, which:
1. strengthens the plant.
2. gives more compact growth.
3. gives better flowering.
4. produces thicker and more coloured thorns in Cacti.

Adding perlite
Perlite is volcanic glass that has been greatly expanded by heating.
Perlite is therefore very lightweight, and contains many sealed pores with air.
Perlite is used in potting soil to make the soil :
-- make the soil less compact, the soil is looser together with Perlite.
-- Let water run off faster.
-- dry out faster.

8. APPLICATIONS OF THE SOIL MIXTURES
1. For repotting (over-potting) all plants into another pot.
2. For repotting cuttings or sown Cacti, Succulents and Houseplants.
3. To be used as basic soil to which you add other substrates as you wish.
You can make your own soil mixture with our basic soil.
E.g. self-made seed soil, cutting soil, potting soil, regular potting soil or Mescaline Cactus soil.

9. CACTUS SOIL IN NATURE
Cacti grow in nature in many different areas and in varying climates.
Cacti therefore grow in nature in many different types of soil.
In each natural area, plants are adapted to these conditions (soil and climate).
Each natural soil type has certain properties, with certain advantages and disadvantages.

Roots of natural plants
Roots usually grow in humus from decayed plant remains of leaves, twigs, flowers, fruits.
In a rocky soil, these plant remains are on the surface, and between rocks and stones.
So a Cactus does grow between rocks, boulders and gravel, but these serve mainly to give the plant support.
The roots of the Cactus grow in those places in the soil where there are plant remains, nutrition and water.

10. BE CAREFUL WITH STONY SUBSTRATES !
1. Damage the roots.
Stony substrates can easily damage the soft Cactus roots !
Both by moving the pot and by the roots thickening.
The thickening of the roots pushes the stones into the roots.
Even the pot is pushed apart, a square pot then starts to become round !

2. Insufficient buffer effect
Stony substrates have virtually no buffer action for fertilisers.
Buffering = ability to create a reserve supply.
Excess fertiliser can therefore be absorbed poorly.
The concentration of nutrients can easily become too high, damaging the (Cactus) roots.
Evaporation of water from the stony substrate further increases the fertiliser content.
Fertiliser dosing should be much more precise when growing in a stony soil mixture.
Regular measurement of the fertiliser concentration (EC) in the soil is therefore also necessary.

11. COMMENTS FROM PREVIOUS BUYERS
The comments below have been reproduced verbatim (spelling errors have been corrected).
No words or lines have been omitted, only the name of PP's owner.
Bold words have been made bold by Peyote-Paradise.co.uk .

Say that soil of yours is super good quality though.
I watered my Peyote 2 times in that soil and you know what,
it has already grown 3 millimetres wider.
My other Young Pedro also looks a lot fatter and healthier :)
Thank you, I'm really glad I ordered from you.
That soil from the garden centres for cacti is not nearly as quality.
