PERUVIAN TORCH CACTUS FROM MATUCANA IN PERU

= Trichocereus peruvianus from Matucana (Lima region in Peru).

= Echinopsis peruviana from Matucana (Lima region in Peru).

= Trichocereus peruvianus forma azureus

Form of the Peruvian Torch Cactus from the area around the city of Matucana in the Lima region of central Peru.

This form has strong thick long spines and an intense blue-grey coloured epidermis.

The Matucana area is known for its high quality San Pedro Cacti.

This very blue form with thick strong thorns is known for its very strong effects.

This form is therefore harvested commercially !

Matucana

The city of Matucana is the capital of Huarochirí province in the Lima region of central Peru.

The city of Matucana is located some 2378 metres above sea level.

The colour of the epidermis is light-blue to grey-white.

2. Sown Peruvian Torch seedlings from Matucana are difficult to recognise

Young seedlings of Peruvian Torch Cacti from Matucana:

-- often do not resemble older plants of the same Peruvian Torch species.

-- often resemble other Echinopsis species in the first few years.

You can only tell after several years which Echinopsis species the seedlings belong to.

3. Cuttings

Just wanted to let you know that I prepared about 90cm and this one was insanely strong.

I normally charge 40cm per person,

we about 2 people finished 55cm and that was enough.

I was glad I felt 2 hours first before we took the second half.

It would also have been difficult for me to guide if we had taken it all.

My traveller was a first timer and had his hands full, couldn't have handled more.

I have been to several traditional ceremonies but never was the cactus so strong.
